There are numerous safety issues along the corridors, and fatalities are well-above the state and metropolitan average. By listening to the needs of the communities affected by these issues, we will make them safer now and in the future.
The TH 47/65 corridors have a troubled history of serious and fatal crashes, including multiple pedestrian deaths. Bolton & Menk is part of a consultant team developing a future vision for the 10-mile stretch of both Highway 47 and 65 – two high-traffic state highways traversing urban and suburban cities in the Twin Cities metro area. The study seeks to identify concepts that will meet the safety-based goals and improve the highways for all users while balancing traffic management needs.
Bolton & Menk is leading the planning, concept evaluation, documentation, and community engagement portions of the study. Our community engagement efforts include a team of community-based partners focused on reaching people with different backgrounds, spoken languages, and perspectives. Our work will culminate with partner-supported recommendations for concepts and alternatives to be carried forward into the NEPA process.
