Home / SS4A Action Plan and Grant Application, Town of Boiling Springs, North Carolina
Bolton & Menk successfully developed a comprehensive safety action plan for Boiling Springs and secured $458,000 to bring key downtown recommendations to life.
The Town of Boiling Springs received funding from USDOT's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant program for a safety action plan. They needed a consultant team to lead a planning effort that included robust public engagement and a comprehensive safety review of the town's transportation system that includes NCDOT maintained roads.
Bolton & Menk followed the SS4A grant requirements to complete the comprehensive safety action plan, including planning structure with town stakeholders, NCDOT, Gardner Webb University, and the town police department, equity considerations, safety analysis, community engagement, and project identification and prioritization. We developed conceptual level design and cost estimates for priority projects, including improved pedestrian access and crossings in downtown and around schools and key destinations. Bolton & Menk also wrote and was successful in securing a $458,000 demonstration project grant to implement priority recommendations downtown.
